Trust MD-5700 Script Problem
« on: January 24, 2010, 02:14:08 PM »
What a relief to find something that will take care of all of the complexity and allow me to finally get more than the measly 3-4k download speeds for BitTorrent.

Problem:   The update modem script is failing at these stages:-

Step 06. set_combobox_ip("uiViewLanIpSelector,0")
(Failed - Object Not Found)

Step 26. set_combobox_ip_if_in_combo_false("uiViewLanIpSelector,0")
(Failed - Object Not Found)

Step 34. click_button_last_only("Save All")
(Failed - Object Not Found)

Basic system info is Win 7 64 bit, Trust MD-5700, TP Link WN821N. Please advise if more info needed.

Some times a step or 2 can fail and the router still gets updated. Can you take a screen shot of the port forwarding page for me? This will help me see if the rules got added.

When you load the port forwarding page make sure to click on "User" on the left side options :-)

Shane, I hope this is the one you wanted. My theory, based on ignorance, is that the final 'save all' step is failing. So when I look at the router settings there is no rule for BitTorrent.

No I mean take a screen shot of the port forwarding page in the router, not of my program

Click the view/remove ports button in my program, that should take you to the page

Ok I can see what its not working, and also why I need to get the script working :-)

In the picture of my program your local ip is showing as 192.168.1.129
Yet in the port forwarding page the IP the rule is on is 192.168.1.2

So you can see why its not working. And setting the IP in the drop down box is what failed.
Do this, remove the rule first, then set the IP and the apply the rule. It should work.

I need to get on msn or yahoo with you. I double check the script from the pages I have and it should be working. So I need to look and see whats going on from your end :-)

OK. Thanks for the steer in the right direction, Shane.

Did as you said and the selected port is now working. But still only 2-4Kb speed.

Please advise what you want me to do next. Thanks again.  :cheesy:

Well I would use a different port for utorrent. Heavily used ports will get blocked or throttled by your ISP. So every now and then you need to use a different port.
Also see if your ISP is throttling p2p traffic.

Thanks Shane. Will change the port as you suggest. Also the 'throttle back' detector reports no throttling by my ISP. Cheers.

EDIT: Changed the port to 8668. Now achieving download speeds more consistent with my 5Mb link.  :cheesy:

Many thanks, Shane, for helping me out with this. I still am not 100% sure that I understand port forwarding but, hey, it works.

Good to hear your all set  :cheesy:

Give this a read
http://www.pcwintech.com/what-port-forwarding-nutshell

It should help you understand why you need port forwarding.

All I ever ask in return for my help is you let others know about my site and software, I do a lot more than port forwarding  :artist:

Also feel free to leave a comment in the feedback forum.

Since your all fixed I'm locking the thread
