ANOTHER "USING THE APP" CLEANMEM
« on: January 19, 2010, 06:59:27 AM »
Come here only after reading all replies to this subject earlier posting and rereading the program's "Read Me".
I am on Vista Ultimate SP2 with IE8 Dell laptop.

At START all I get is the list of 8 subheadings, which for one of my inexperience is uninstructive. The program does not START whether or not any of the headings are clicked -- but I'd much prefer not having to be involved with them.
At Task Manager program listed as Running; but if included at Processes I don't see it there.

The Read Me says "...At START...it graphs a list of running programs..." Mine does not, nor does it do anything else (other than the 8 headings list).

Will appreciate knowing what I've done wrong, or failed to do -- and what to do about it.  Thank you.

CleanMem only runs for a few seconds every 30 minutes by default so you shouldn't "see" it running.  Do you think you could post a screen shot of what you are seeing when you say it only lists the "8 subheadings"?

I want to make sure we aren't confusing each other as this should be a simple fix or explanation.

I made the program to be set it and forget it. There is no window to the program. It is set in the windows scheduled task to run every 30 min by default. It runs, cleans, closes. Takes about a sec. for it to do its job then its gone. Until the task scheduler runs it again.

If you want to see it working what you do is open the windows task manager. Go to the processes tab and look at the memory usage. Then open the windows run command and type in cleanmem. You will see cleanmem in the task manager for a sec. then all the memory drop on everything else

Need anything else just let me know.  :cheesy:

Thank you Shane, and Evan. Appreciate prompt help.
Sent personal email to Evan as to need for email address for screen shot.

Shane, this is a classic example of the handicap of inexperience!
At Task Manager PROCESSES, as I believe I mentioned, CLEANMEM is not shown.
I submitted simple form to add it, but it was not added. How do I resolve this?

Your info gives me a better idea of the program use, but I'm put off by inability to see anything.
Clicking START on programs customarily brings screen to do exactly that. This is first encounter when that doesn't happen.
Glad to know it operates automatically every 30 minutes and no intention of changing, but disconcerting not to know that absent your telling me. Just how do I know it's happening?

Then too, it would be interesting to see the program memory reduction.
Apparently this must be done rather laboriously (for the uninitiated!) via Task Manager.

No trouble as to Activation which was included in email advising of responses.

Cordially,  RO

Cleanmem wont show in task manager when it isn't running. The windows task scheduler runs it, cleanmem does its job then closes. There is no reason for cleanmem to stay running, using resources when it isn't doing anything

Thats one of the reasons cleanmem is as popular as it is. Because people are not use to seeing a program that actually works and isn't running in the background  :artist:

Like I said before, just watch the memory usage in the task manager and run cleanmem.
