Problem in port forwarding huawei echolife bm622
« on: January 12, 2010, 03:21:33 AM »
i am using a huawei echolife bm622 modem/router. i have already tried to forward some port (8080 and 9339) adding it my routers nat configuration, but still failed.

windows firewall off (also tried on and exemption)
routers firewall off
antivirus off

i already tried everything i know. what should be the problem?
or am i missing something.
please help. i need it asap. thanks!

another thing i dont know is the source ip address that was needed in the port mapping tab so i left it blank. i tried 0.0.0.0 , my external ip , my routers ip but still nothing. i dont know if that is the problem or not.

any help would be appreciated. thanks :cheesy:

You have to use the IP address of the computer (or device) that is using the program that needs port forwarding enabled.  For instance, if you are playing a computer game and you want to host your own game then you need a specific port open for that computer.  You can find your IP address by bringing up a command prompt (Start Menu->Run...then type "cmd") and typing "ipconfig".  The output will include your IP address.

We also have a free program called Simple Port Forwarding (www.simpleportforwarding.com) that greatly simplifies the whole process (from setting it up to getting custom support from us)

Just follow the check list at the start of the program and follow up with us if you are still having any problems.

i changed the source ip address to my ip address. but still the port is not open or unreachable.

here is my port mapping configuration

mapping name: webserver
protocol: tcp
external port: 9339
internal port 9339
internal host: 192.168.1.1 (router's ip address)
source ip address: 192.168.1.2 (my computers' ip address)

i also attached a print screen of my router

thanks for the help

The internal IP should be 192.168.1.2 (Your computers IP) you never need to use the routers ip in a port forwarding rule. Source IP should be blank.

Internal IP means what IP on the local network, in this case the IP of your computer. Source IP is if you want to put an IP from the internet, say a friends internet Ip to connect to you, otherwise you leave it blank to allow IP's.

Lets check that your ISP doesn't have you behind a proxy.
First go to this page
http://www.pcwintech.com/port_test.php

You will see your Internet IP address.

Then in your router check the Internet IP there.
Do they match? They should. If they don't then your ISP has you behind a proxy to keep you from port forwarding. You will need to contact them to find out how to get off of it. I have seen some ISP's charge people. Kinda crappy for an ISP.

Hi, First thx jester for your help we could enter to the modem with admin status, now we have the same problem than you, about the link Shane gave you i tried, and it give you your public IP (public IP always change) and i found it in the status -> Service information there is in the WAN interface, the IP match inm y PC, im gonna ask to my friend to check that too.

Now i found this web :

http://whatismyipaddress.com/

Go there and press the trace now button, it should detect if you are connected to any proxy server.

Any other suggestion?

Hi Evan, well the problem is from my friend he lives in Philippines, and he and a echolife BM621 modem, noe he wants to open ports for a program, im helping him with that. Thx to jester we could find the password of his modem to access with admin status, we found the pages for portforward, we filled all the data needed but He still can t open ports. So he check about the public IP in internet, and with his modem in Status -> Service information -> WAN interface and they didn t match, that s why we think that he is behind a proxy.

Now he call his ISP asking about open ports for his modem and they said he can t do it, cuz he need a static internet IP address and that is only avaible with a wired connection, my friend have a wireless connection to internet so we are trying to figured out any other option that can help him.

thx for ask  :cheesy:!

Just wanted to let you know I got the router added to the simple port forwarding program. Hopefully once the problems with the ISP are fixed the program will be of some use to you

You do not need a static IP to do port forwarding.  All that having a static IP does is keep your internet IP address from being a "moving target".  If you want to get around the static IP address issue then take a look at Dynamic DNS (https://www.dyndns.com).

No in this case he does. His ISP has him behind a 2nd network. So port forwarding doesn't work. The only for it to work is to have a static Ip from the ISP. This removes them from being behind that 2nd network.
