Linksys WRT54G
« on: December 29, 2009, 03:18:55 PM »
Hello guys, I'm having a bit of a problem port forwarding my Linksys WRT54G router, I used your Simple Port Forwarding program and even added the port manually from the router, but alas, didn't work. I have AVG 8.5 and I have disabled the windows firewall and tried while it was enabled, I even tried the multiple router thing but as you can see in the pictures, it's not a LAN IP even though I suppose I'm behind 3 routers?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Well the multiple routers is the reason your port forwarding isnt working.
But the question is are you behind 3 routers? Or does your ISP have you behind a proxy to prevent you from port forwarding. (Some ISP's do this)

So easy way to answer, how many modems/routers do you have hooked up?
What is your computer plugged into? The linksys right? Ok then what is the linksys plugged in to? and then from that is it plugged into a third device?

Ok, thanks Shane, I'll check all that tomorrow since it's 1:42 am where I live and there are too many cables/routers or something so I suppose it is connected to another router, can't get into specifics at the moment trying to get past that jungle would wake everyone up.

But let's say it was, what would I have to do then? Or would that be unknown as of now?

If you do have 3 routers its easy to fix :-)

You would setup DMZ in router 1 to point to the internet IP of router #2.
Then in router #2 you would setup DMZ to point to the internet ip of router #3 (the linksys)

So when finished all incoming connections from the 1st router get sent to the 2nd, then from there to the 3rd :-)

Basically making a chain.

Nevermind this, sorry, but I asked my father and he said that the router's connected directly to the internet, but the ISP has some 'routers' and whatnot. He said it won't work out.

Thanks though.
